It’s that time of year again! The 2nd annual douchebracket; which is exactly what it sounds like, a tournament of douchitude. In last year’s inaugural event, my regional finalist, “Notre Dame fans with no genuine school affiliation” routed Rachel Nichols in the title game. The earlier rounds were much more exciting as Alex Rodriguez out-lasted his agent Scott Boras in the finals of Peter’s regional and then had the ND fans on the ropes until A-Rod choked. The Notre Dame fans were aided by 1.) this tourney coincides with St. Patrick’s Day 2.) Chicago’s Southside Irish parade got so unruly that is was indefinitely terminated. In the other semifinal, Rachel Nichols routed Ronnie Woo Woo.

#1 Tim Tebow Media Coverage vs. #16 Joe Francis

Our first match-up is nothing short of a battle of morals. St. Tebow takes on one of America’s most well-known purveyors of dreck and low-level trash. Now remember, I’m not making Tebow himself the #1 seed in my douchebracket, it’s the people who cover him. And the way they do it. In the modern age of media, no college athlete has ever been as unjustly deified as Tim Tebow. The only other collegiate jock the press has come even remotely close to undeservedly lionizing is Tyler Hansbrough. Don’t get me wrong this is nothing against St. Tebow, he seems like a nice, hard-working type of guy. This is on the people who cover him.

1. St. Louis Rams Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma

And injuries aside, Bradford still seems like the safest signal-caller choice to make in a very weak QB class. Bradford only solidifed that status even further by showing up at the combine with added muscle weight- therefore alleviating concerns that he may be brittle and injury prone. And once the buzz started, rumors abounded that this is the direction the Rams will go. I don’t agree with it. AT ALL! But given what’s been said, this is what I predict will happen. And the fact that pictures of Bradford with Hooters Girls at a Super Bowl party are all over the net can’t hurt, right?

2. Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska

The Lions need a lot, and they can start by augmenting the pass rush, which would also improve their ailing secondary. Suh, who seems to spend most of the time his playing time in opponents’ backfields, is impossible to pass up. After the Big 12 title game Texas Coach [More …]

I predict the Rams will grab their franchise QB in round one with the first overall pick; and complement him with a WR in round 2. There’s a drop-off from Bryant and Benn to Tate, when it comes to WR prospects, because there are many more questions about Golden than there are about Dez. Some wonder if Tate is too small. He measured below what they expected he would at the combine. Lowering his stock. Then he ran faster than expected, raising his stock; so I left him right back where he was before the combine.

The Lions have had a pretty rough go of it with their draft picks lately, so they’re due for another one to pan out, right? Dunlap’s DUI has hurt his stock immensely, but his pass-rushing skills and explosiveness will get him noticed.
