Isn’t it ironic? The same Frank Mir that was so obsessed with Brock Lesnar that he decided to lift weights until his body exploded with muscle mass is now considering dropping down to 205, according to this interview with MMAfigs.com.

Many people thought that this was the obvious move for Mir after the second Brock Lesnar fight. It became apparent that Mir was simply too small and didn’t possess the same kind of raw strength that Lesnar possessed. Like most fighters that appear too small for their divisions, everyone expected him to move down. Instead we saw Mir start the now infamous Frank Mir workout plan.

With Mir now unquestionly out of the title race at heavyweight, moving down is probably the best option if he can do it. He used to step into the cage at about 240, and if he could get down to 230, then he would be cutting about the same amount of weight as Thiago Alves does to get to welterweight or Brock Lesnar does to get to 265.
