Sheets to Oakland

The Oakland Athletics signed former Brewers pitcher Ben Sheets to a one-year, $8 million contract. This is a surprising move by Billy Beane considering he likes to sign players on the cheap and this signing is anything but cheap. All things considered I really like this signing for them. I know a lot of people will

Brewers Sign Jim Edmonds

It’s easy to get caught up in baseball’s numbers, to forget just how talented major league players are — even those .230 hitters off the bench. It’s easy to forget the human side of the game, the importance of leadership, the need for team chemistry. It’s easy to forget that statistics tell us only part of the story, not the whole. It’s easy to see how sabermetrics, zone ratings and slugging percentages can mislead teams like the Cubs to sign a Milton Bradley vs. a Mark DeRosa. And, of course, it’s easy to laugh at the...

QBs for ALL-BROWNS

by Eric Tellez nflpressbox@gmail.com Hey folks, it’s time to get back to the All-Teams featured on EA Sports’ MADDEN FOOTBALL. We’re going to pick-up today with All-BROWNS and return on Tuesday, Feb 2, 2010, with the ALL-EAGLES. Eagles fans get those emails in and tell me your ALL-EAGLES quarterbacks. Here are the Browns: #6 Otto Graham 1946-1955 10 All-Stars Games / 13,499 yards / 88 touchdowns There will never be another Otto Graham. Graham played 10-seasons taking the Browns to the playoffs 10 times, made 10 All-Star games, played quarterback, defensive-back, and special teams. He started every game in his career except...

Good Players…

You know who was good? Olli Jokinen from 2005 through 2007. You know who isn’t that good anymore? Olli Jokinen. Of course, if the rumors are true, and Olli Jokinen is about to be a Ranger (along with Brandon Prust for Chris Higgins and Ales Kotalik), then he becomes the 3rd highest-scoring Ranger, behind Marian Gaborik and Vaclav Prospal. And yes, he is a 1st-line center who can play with Prospal at left wing and Gaborik at right wing. But the big thing is that Kotalik is making $3M for not only this year but the next 2 seasons as well. Jokinen’s cap...

CBS Rejects Super Bowl Ad

CBS has rejected a Super Bowl ad, but it’s not the you think it’d be. CBS has given the green light to a pro-life ad featuring Tim Tebow and his mother. However, they nixed an ad by a the gay dating website mancrunch.com. The ad features two men, whose hands touch in a chip which leads to them making out though they show no mouth to mouth contact. The video is below: Now, it doesn’t seem fair that CBS would air the Tebow ad, but not this one. All I’m saying is...

Pro Bowl 2010

AFC NORTH – 31 Jan 2010

by Eric Tellez nflpressbox@gmail.com BALTIMORE RAVENS The word around the nest is that the Ravens are looking to upgrade their receiving unit in this year’s draft. The two names that are being mentioned the most are Dez Bryant of Oklahoma State University and Golden Tate of Notre Dame. Considering the current state of the Ravens offense, getting WR Derrick Mason help seems like the best way to go. Willis McGahee and Ray Rice can pound the ball keeping the defenses honest and when they start to crowd the line they would take a shot deep. It seems like this...

Super Bowl 44: Will the Saints or Colts Cover The Spread?

post thumbnail Here we are again, another Super Bowl. Super Bowl 44 brings us the two last teams to be undefeated through the regular season. There are no more wild card teams and no more teams that squeaked into the playoffs. Without a doubt the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts were the two most dominating teams in the NFL in 2009. So who has the advantage heading into Super Bowl 44? Will the Colts be able to win by six or more to cover the spread…or will New Orleans keep it close enough to have a chance to win...
