Novak Djokovic halts Federer’s fourth Swiss Indoors title bid

Serbian Novak Djokovic won his fourth title of the season after stopping Roger Federer’s bid for a fourth consecutive Swiss Indoors title in three sets. This is the world number three’s first time to take part in the Davidoff Swiss Indoors tournament, an ATP 500 tournament. The score was 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

“It’s disappointing to lose at home in the finals, no doubt. I thought I missed plenty of opportunities. I’m not looking for excuses. He played tough and he played well when he had to, and saved a ton of break points that were crucial,” Federer said after the match.
The win effectively broke the tie between two players in head-to-head matches this year. Djokovic now leads 3-2 this year against the world’s number one player.

“I have to produce something special to win,” Djokovic said.

“It may be the longest I have ever played in my life. It was maybe the turning point in the whole match. I was fortunate to keep my nerves,”...
