Mark Recchi tied his skates and took to the ice for his 1,500th career NHL game Saturday night against the Senators, and added a goal in the Bruins 4-3 shootout win. Down 3-1 with less than two minutes to go, Recchi notched his second goal of the year to bring the B’s within a goal.
David Krejci scored the tying goal with less than a minute to go to force overtime. After both teams failed to score in the OT period, the game was to be decided on a shootout. Bruins center Patrice Bergeron scored on the team’s second shot, sending a wrister from 12 feet away to the back of the net. Jason Spezza failed to answer the goal, and the Bruins escaped Ottawa with the comeback victory.
The first two periods featured three fights and just two goals (a shorthanded goal for Daniel Alfredsson and a tally for Blake Wheeler).
